Body Image!

Many Adolescents are really concerned about their body image nowadays. But first, you need to know a little bit about what body image is. Body Image is the image that you make in your head of how you look like compared to another 'ideal' body through the influence of social media and society. There are also several aspects of body image:

1.     How people see their bodies is called Perceptual body image
an incorrect representation of how your body actually looks.

2.     The way you feel about your body is called affective body
image- This meaning the satisfaction/dissatisfaction with the feeling about your body.

3.     How you think about your body is called cognitive body
image- People believing what their body shape and weight should be like.

4.     Behaviours caused by body image are
called behavioural body image- When someone feels bad about their body and will isolate themselves because they don’t like their appearance.

    Solutions!
Some solutions to stopping people thinking about their body image are:
  1. Avoid Negative Talk - Don't let anyone make you feel bad about the way you look! You are unique and no one can be like you!
  2. Learn to accept your body - If you try to change how you are and the way you look it could go horribly wrong! Remember the grass is not always greener on the other side.
  3. Avoid comparing yourself to others - Remind yourself that you are unique and no one is 'better' than you in that way.

With these tips you should be able to avoid being concerned over your body image!
